Uganda is located in East Africa neighbouring Kenya, Southern Sudan, Tanzania, Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda.
Uganda is naturally beautiful with amazing attractions where visitors get a fascinating experience from over ten National Parks. It has incredible wildlife, including the rare mountain Gorillas as well as thousands of bird species. We can take you to snow-capped mountains in sub Saharan Africa, lush evergreen landscapes, inland water bodies, the source of the Nile, or the magnificent Ssese islands. Uganda has a diverse culture coupled with the most hospitable people in the world, and of course vibrant cities and towns.
History
Uganda is a former British colony which gained its independence in 1962, and remains member of The Commonwealth. Between 1971 and 1979, Uganda was ruled by Idi Amin whose regime oversaw a reign of terror that left hundreds of citizens massacred and a crumbling economy.
Since the Idi Amin era, the country has been on path to recovery with more work being done under the current government led by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
Safety
Uganda lost its spot as the best tourist destination in Africa due to Political instability during the 1970s, and the insurgency in Northern Uganda between 1986 and 2008 inflicted more damage to the countryâs image. The insurgency is now over and the leaders are wanted by the International Court of Human Rights.
The government recently established Tourism Police to protect tourists; Generally Uganda is safe for tourists and that is why we are confident and happy to organise exclusive packages to this magnificent and destination.
Population / Culture / Religion
Uganda is a multi-cultural state with a population estimated at 35 million. There are about 40 different indigenous languages currently in use, but English is the official national language.
The majority of Ugandan-Asians expelled by Idi Amin have since resettled in the country.
Uganda is one of the countries in the world where religion is practised freely. Christians make up 84% with Catholics the majority at 41.9%, Anglicans 35.9% and Muslims at 12% of the population.
Ugandans are amongst the most hospitable people in the world and visitors find it easy and safe to interact with locals.
Climate
Uganda lies along the equator and experiences a temperate climate. Temperatures range between 16 â 26°C for the majority of the year (April November).
During the warmer months (December March) temperatures can soar in excess of 30°C. Therefore, we recommend that visitors carry sun cream as a precaution.
Economy
Uganda has substantial natural resources, including fertile soils, regular rainfall, sizable mineral deposits and largely untapped reserves of both crude oil and natural gas. The country has commenced economic reforms and growth has been robust. In 2008, Uganda recorded 7% growth despite the global downturn and regional instability.
Visas
Visas are required for all European and American visitors. Uganda visas may be obtained at Uganda missions abroad or on arrival at the countryâs exit /entry stations. A Single entry visa is valid for three months from the date of issue and costs £25 (in the UK) or $50 (at entry point in Uganda).
Cuisine
International and local cuisine is commonly served in hotels and restaurants. Alcohol is widely available in hotels, pubs, supermarkets and shops. However, drink driving is against the law like in any other countries.
Health
Uganda has been among the rare HIV success stories, one of the reasons being openness. Malaria is common and there is rarely outbreak of Ebola virus in parts of the country. These diseases are however controllable and we encourage tourists to take preventative measures such as; taking anti malaria tablets, drinking bottled water, use of mosquito nets and love carefully.
